It’s that time of the year where many people move into deep clean mode for their house. Windows get washed, air filters get changed, the snow blower gets winterized, and the list continues.
What about Spring Cleaning for your body?
That’s right! Your body could need a Spring Tune-Up too!
It’s the perfect time to reassess your health goals.
💪🍒💤Fitness, Food, and Rest goals
👨👩👧👦 Relationship goals with family and friends
Let’s dive in a little deeper to each of these areas - all of which I discuss in greater detail in my book that was published on Amazon this past December.
Fitness, Food, and Rest
Movement = medicine
When you move, you can manage an ideal body weight, lower your blood pressure, increase your blood flow, reduce stress, stay mobile, increase strength, increase endurance, increase your stamina, decrease your risk of obesity-related preventable diseases (like diabetes, high blood pressure, and cancer), and improve mental health.
Food = medicine
When you eat the right foods for your body, you can attain an ideal body weight, stabilize your blood sugars, build muscle, bathe your brain and nervous system in healthy fats, build muscle mass, increase your energy, reduce headaches, and improve your digestion.
Rest = medicine
When you achieve adequate sleep, you can help manage an ideal body weight, allow your body to help heal itself, improve mental clarity, improve mood, increase productivity throughout the day, improve your immune system, and decrease your risk of serious health problems
Are you physically active for 30-60 minutes per day?
Are you eating foods that fuel your body, reduce inflammation in your body, and give you energy?
Are you sleeping 7-9 hours per night?
Relationships with family and friends
Surrounding yourself with healthy relationships that nurture, challenge, and support you are important to overall health. Healthy relationships improve mental health and reduce risk of suicide and death.
How are your relationships right now?
Are you surrounded by people who are positive, encouraging, and constructive?
Many people do not want to talk about money. This is a problem. If you avoid learning about how to manage your money, then you may find yourself struggling and stressed out. Creating a budget, learning how to get out of debt, learning how to save, and understanding how to invest your money wisely can not only benefit you but also your family, friends, and community. Money can create a lot of stress in an individual as well as in their relationships. Money can also create a lot of joy and opportunities.
Are you in control of your finances right now?
Have you created a budget that allows you to account from every dollar made vs every dollar spent?
Faith, Prayer, and Meditation
Spiritual beliefs can play an important role in health because faith practices can boost self-esteem, decrease depression, and build positive relationships. As a practicing Christian, I find hope and joy in my belief in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. When I read the bible and participate in my online Mom C.O.E. bible study, I find community with other Christ believers as well as encouragement and a better understanding of my relationship with God.
What do you believe?
Are you searching for a relationship with God?
Are you connected with other faith-based believers?
Now that we’ve discussed four specific areas of your health, I hope you see the value of a Spring Tune-Up for your body.
Performing a self-audit on your fitness, food, sleep, relationships, finances, and faith will help you learn if you are on track with your goals or have an opportunity for improvement.
If you are struggling with reaching your goals in any of these areas, you are not alone. It’s difficult to stay on track when there are so many distractions around us. I welcome you to join my free Facebook group The Real Healthy U so you can share your struggles, goals, and successes with other people who are trying to reach their health goals too. Hope to see you in the group!
