Grinning and Winning!

Have you ever worked so hard for something that when you earned the reward you couldn’t stop grinning?

Well, that’s how I felt this past week.

For the past year, I have been studying for a Fitness Nutrition Specialization credential with the National Academy of Sports Medicine. This was no small credential. It involved 15 modules of videos + reading + quizzes + a final exam. I felt like I was back in graduate school earning my clinical doctorate!

And you better believe… I am excited that I passed my exam with a score of 92/100 on the first attempt!

Why did I put in all this hard work?

I was tired of my physical therapy patients and fitness clients asking me questions about nutrition that I didn’t have all the answers to. Now, don’t get me wrong, I know I’m not going to have the answer to every question that comes my way about food. However, I feel so much better equipped to respond to questions like:

  • What is the best diet to follow?
  • Is eating only protein good for you?
  • Why should I eat carbs? Do I really need them?
  • Should I take a vitamin supplement?
  • Should I become a vegetarian?
  • Are herbs good for me?
  • How can I eat healthy on a budget?
  • How can I introduce healthier food that my kids will actually eat?

If you have questions like these, I welcome a conversation with you.

I loved talking about food before I learned all this cool stuff and now I love talking about food even more!

That’s why when I transitioned my practice to online, I wanted to emphasize that I help people feel better faster through physical therapy, fitness, and food!

Food is the foundation to good health. Let me re-phrase that - good, quality food is the foundation to good health.

Food and the type of food we eat impacts how we feel and how we function. I am so glad to have gone through this study process over the past year because I have learned a lot!

If I was asked, "What is the greatest reward you received for all your hard work studying throughout this past year?"

I would say that my greatest reward is not just about passing the exam - No, it is bigger than that!

It’s the grin on my face because I know My People Are Going To Win Big when they get to learn about how food can help them heal faster from injury, how food can help them reach their body weight goals, and how food can help them take their fitness to the next level!
